Weekly Trading Outlook | October 26–30, 2026
Wednesday’s Federal Reserve decision is the week’s main risk window. Gold comes first and Bitcoin second, with reduced exposure around the FOMC and a strict focus on discipline, compliance and capital protection—not directional predictions.
**Weekly objective:** The Federal Reserve decision is the central risk event. The goal is not to predict the outcome or chase the first move. The goal is to reach Wednesday with capital protected and finish the event without a compliance breach or revenge trading.
## 1. Gold First (XAU/USD)
At its previous meeting, the Federal Reserve raised the federal funds target range by 25 basis points to **3.75%–4.00%** and said inflation remains elevated. The latest BLS data showed **CPI +0.6% month over month, PPI +1.3%, payrolls +29,000 and unemployment at 4.2%**.
This leaves gold highly sensitive to changes in the US dollar, Treasury yields and rate expectations around Wednesday’s decision, without implying a directional forecast.
Planning priorities:
- The main risk window is Wednesday from **8:45 PM to 10:15 PM Kuwait time**.
- The policy decision is scheduled for **9:00 PM**, followed by the press conference at **9:30 PM**.
- Tuesday may see pre-meeting positioning, while Thursday may continue the post-decision adjustment.
- Do not chase the pre-FOMC move or assume the first candle after the decision defines the final direction.
- Avoid carrying large exposure into the announcement. A stop loss cannot eliminate spread and slippage risk.
## 2. Bitcoin Second (BTC)
Bitcoin is sensitive to the same rate and liquidity repricing and may react faster because it trades continuously through the statement, press conference and overnight session.
Planning priorities:
- Wednesday night and early Thursday are sensitive holding periods.
- Do not sleep with excessive leverage after the decision.
- If gold and BTC express the same macro idea, treat them as **one correlated risk bucket**.
- Do not use BTC to recover a loss taken in gold.
- Avoid rapid-fire trades during the press conference or after a stop-out.
## 3. Tier-1 Macro Calendar
| Date | Event | Kuwait Time | Volatility Risk |
|---|---|---:|---|
| Tuesday–Wednesday, October 27–28 | Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting | Decision Wednesday at **9:00 PM**; press conference at **9:30 PM** | Very high: two-way moves, wider spreads, slippage and rapid rate repricing |
**There are no NFP, CPI or PPI releases during the week.**
## 4. Prop-Firm and Stop-Loss Compliance
- Conservative operating rule: attach the stop loss at entry. If it is missing, place it within **three minutes** or close the trade before the deadline.
- Before the first trade—and again before 8:30 PM on Wednesday—record **Balance, Equity, Daily Drawdown, Maximum Drawdown and remaining room**.
- When the same idea is copied across several accounts, aggregate the dollar risk before execution. Multiple accounts do not make the risk independent.
- Breaching Daily Drawdown or Maximum Drawdown can be a hard violation that terminates a prop account.
- Calculation methods and restrictions on news, overnight and weekend holding vary by firm and program. The account dashboard and contract are the final authority.
- Some FT+ programs permit news and weekend holding, while Instant, Advanced and Master restrict weekend holding.
- No full-margin bets or ultra-short coin-flip trades around the Fed decision.
- Avoid tick scalping, grid trading and repeated large one-directional bursts.
- Never hold a losing trade merely to extend its duration.
## 5. Conservative Position-Sizing Focus: “One Decision, One Risk Cap”
- Monday and Tuesday: **0.5% maximum risk per idea**, preferably 0.25% if conditions are unstable.
- Around Wednesday’s FOMC event: **0.25% maximum or stay flat**.
- If the prop program prohibits news trading, being flat is mandatory.
- Total daily risk: **1% maximum** across all sessions and correlated positions, or the lower prop-firm limit.
- A session loss cap is a protective ceiling—not a fresh risk budget that resets when the next session begins.
- Two consecutive losses or reaching the session cap means closing the platform for the remainder of the session.
- No oversizing after the decision, revenge trading or unplanned averaging.
## 6. Friday Review Checklist
- [ ] Every trade respected the planned position size.
- [ ] Every stop was placed within three minutes, or the trade was closed.
- [ ] Daily Drawdown and Maximum Drawdown were checked for every account.
- [ ] The FOMC risk window was respected without chasing the first move.
- [ ] Gold and BTC were not treated as separate risk when driven by the same macro factor.
- [ ] News, overnight and weekend restrictions were respected for the actual program.
- [ ] A new session was not treated as a fresh daily loss budget.
- [ ] No revenge trading, overtrading, oversizing or unplanned averaging occurred.
- [ ] The journal was completed with the trade rationale, screenshot and emotional state.
- [ ] Weekly P/L and maximum drawdown were recorded.
- [ ] One lesson was selected to carry into next week.
## Bottom Line
Wednesday is not a day for heroics. Staying flat during the decision is a valid trading decision. The objective is to finish the week with capital intact and discipline fully preserved.
